A great local grocery, bakery and butcher shop in the neighbourhood of Alameda located on Encinal St. corner High St. Conveniently located in the community, this grocery store is not crowded but with limited parking lots and quite pricey. The store is not that really huge but they have great variety of stuffs from fresh meats and produce, bakery and spirits and wine and a lot more! The displays are neat and clean. They have local BBQ on weekends and there’s s cozy Japanese restaurant called Bluefin on the corner serving delightful foods. The bakery has also great freshly bake cookies, cakes and breads. I like their cheese section, they got almost all the best cheeses of the world! Lots of wine selection as well. This grocery store is just like a convenient store, grab only what you really need, the prices are higher than what you can get from other grocery stores in the community.

This little market with compact aisles has a lot. Great local food shop with some limited non food items. Staff at times hard to find, but kind and quick to help. Suprised at how much they had available and such good quality.

i love this market. i live close enough to walk, for some exercise. all the staff at encinal market are polite and helpful. encinal market is the type of place that has its own atmosphere and feel of a local business. it’s like encinal market was put there just for us locals in the area. hey wait, it was built for the area locals and anyone that happens to to need food items for consumption. encinal market has a butcher shop that stocks a plethora of fresh meats, organic too, and the butchers behind the counter are the same as the market staff, friendly and knowledgeable about the meat products. i’ve been going to encinal market for over 20 years and most, if not all the staff are still employed there as the first day i walked in so it has to be a great place to work. encinal is a little pricey on some items and they also offer deals and discounts on other items. the fruit and produce section is quality, period. even better than major supermarkets carry, trust me on that. i visit all the food stores in the area and encinal market is up to par with the best. whatever your looking for encinal market has plenty of that to choose from and plenty of specialty items from local growers and specialty manufacturers. its all good. so when you need a little or a lot of whatever your brain desires, visit encinal market, many times!

Found the market to be be a good fit for the neighborhood. Lots of organic items . I did go their looking for a plant based milk by Three Trees called Black Sesame Almond Milk. I was directed to them by the Three Trees website but unfortunately they did not have it in stock. Nice store though

What an awesome find! Loved this retro styled market. The selection was abundant, the food choices were unique and original...I found many things there I've never seen anywhere, and the produce was all very fresh. I bought some nectarines and they we're perfectly sweet and delicious. All the staff were exceptionally nice as well! Really great market!

Encinal Market is a treasure. East to park, quick in and out, and they have everything . Great produce, all sorts of cheeses and gourmet foods, and a superb butcher shop. It’s not overwhelming like a modern supermarket and it’s really great for smaller households because smaller portion items are available.

What a wonderful market! We have been visiting Alameda for the past 3 weeks and have been fortunate that Encinal Market is only a block away. The butcher section is fantastic. Great selection. Meat is high quality and the butchers are friendly and knowledgeable. It feels like a small town market. There is a nice enough selection of wine. Available stock can be a challenge. Of course, it is overall pricier than other local super markets, but still comparably reasonable for a small market and some things are less expensive. I paid only $4.99 one day for ground beef.

I love this grocery store. It's small but manages to stock all the right things. Excellent beer and spirits selection. The butcher's are really helpful and friendly serving great BBQ outside on the weekends.
